Air Serbia celebrates a decade of long-haul flights: Ten years of direct flights to New York
23 June 2026
Air Serbia today marks ten years since the commencement of its direct service between Belgrade and New York (JFK), one of the most important intercontinental connections for Serbia and the region.
To mark the occasion, symbolic activities were organised at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport in cooperation with the airport, celebrating a decade of successfully connecting Serbia with the United States.
Air Serbia has been operating flights between Belgrade and New York since 2016. To date, more than 750,000 passengers have travelled on the route, making it one of the most popular in the national carrier’s network. The route’s development has been further supported by the expansion of the long-haul fleet with Airbus A330-200 aircraft, as well as partnerships that provide passengers with onward connections to numerous destinations across the United States. In addition to New York, Air Serbia launched direct flights to Chicago in 2023 and further expanded its North American network this year with the introduction of services to Toronto.
“Ten years ago, we opened the door to a direct connection between Serbia and the United States, and today this route represents an important pillar of our international operations. The continued development of the service and stable demand demonstrate its significance both for our passengers and for our airline,” said George Petković, VP Americas, Air Serbia.
This anniversary confirms Air Serbia’s long-term commitment to developing intercontinental air services and strengthening Belgrade’s role as an important regional hub.
